Guides

Clark Fork Trout is fortunate to have a group of excellent guides ready to take you on a trip of a lifetime. We treat each day as a custom trip tailored to the individuals we are guiding. Each guide is a great fisherman in their own right. Capable and passionate about the river they work on, you will find our guides to be knowledgeable about the bugs on the river and the places you can expect to find fish. Many have guided several seasons. It is always important to book well in advance to make sure we can get you on the river during your trip or vacation.

Jacob Umstead

Jacob moved to Montana from Pennsylvania in 2022 to guide fishing. He’s been fly fishing for 15 years and figured Montana fishing out quickly. Jacob is guaranteed to give you a day full of laughs and good fishing. The only thing he loves more than a good day on the river is chasing turkeys in the spring.

Kamas Romney

My name Is Kamas Romney and I was born and raised in the Frenchtown valley West of Missoula along the Clark Fork river. I’ve spent a majority of my life fishing the Clark Fork, starting when I was a little boy walking down from my house with my brother. My favorite moment is an evening pmd mayfly hatch that lights up the river. I’ve spread out my fly fishing experience to the surrounding rivers such as the Blackfoot and Bitterroot as well. I fish in Montana during the summer and attend Pacific University in Oregon during the winter season in pursuit of a Business Administration degree. While I’m there I play on the golf team and fish for steelhead. I always look forward to and enjoy my Montana summers on the water with my family and friends.
