We are floating the Regis in rafts and days are quite predictable. Water is very clear and there are NO trees blocking the river as of today May 31st. Be sure to take a look at two mile as there is a large tree leaning and ready to fall. But you have plenty to advance notice if that does happen and room to drag the raft around it. I am fishing large stone fly patterns and twitching them to attract the remaining browns. Water is very cold so wear waders.

The St Regis River opens for general fishing season on May 20th this year. You can float it but not fish till third saturday in may. There have been plenty of fish caught out in the Clark Fork just down from the Regis so I expect it to fish quite well during the opening week.
- St.Regis River, Sept. 10, 22
The St. Regis river is fishing well lower down as the Brown’s are starting to show up. Fishing higher should still see results for Rainbows and Cutts on smaller attractors such as Royal Wulffs or red Madam X.

The browns have moved into the lower St.Regis river. Consider streamers and a sink-tip line to get down to the nesting spawners.

The St Regis is holding some nice fish that head up river to seek out the cooler waters of the Regis. Fish a Royal Wulf while wading the drop offs. Look for feeding fish out in the faster waters under riffles. The Stimis are always a good St Regis fly in August . There are few mayflies in the air so stick with the attractors. You can get good wade access at Haugan offramp and follow the river up the dirt roads.
