Meet the Owner

Danner has lived within close proximity of the Clark Fork for his entire life. Born and raised in the nearby town of Superior, Danner has fished the river for as long as he can remember. In the off season from fishing, Danner guides elk hunts. A true outdoorsman, if he’s not hunting or fishing for work, he’s probably hiking the hills or floating down the river for fun.

Fell free to call Danner or the shop (406-822-0123) to ask about the condition of the river, hatches, river flows, lodging and camping in our area.

Danner has been guiding fishing for four years

Danner truly lives to fish, and is always out trying to figure out what flies and techniques are working that particular week. He doesn’t shy away from sharing his knowledge and experience, and will always happily recommend flies, gear, and spots to fish to anyone who calls or stops into the shop.

Anyone who’s been on the river with Danner knows he is a kind and patient instructor when teaching people who are newer to fly fishing, and that his rowing skills and knowledge of the river are guaranteed to put you on fish. Nothing makes him happier than watching clients catch fish and have a good day on the river.

The Clark Fork Trout Story

Steve and Peggy Temple purchased Clark Fork Trout from Brooks Sanford roughly a decade ago and built the fly shop in 2017. They ran the business in the shop until they sold to Danner in the spring of 2024.

When Steve and Peggy moved to the area in 2003, they purchased Danner’s parent’s house and remained close family friends ever since. When Danner was 8, Steve and Peggy were the first ones to introduce him to fly fishing. He spent many days with them tying flies, casting a fly rod, and fishing.
